Not only do I not have to look at scars that make me feel embarrassed, but my husband can look at me and not even notice that I had surgery.

Nipple Sparing Mastectomy
I could have had a lumpectomy... but I preferred the more aggressive bilateral mastectomy. I look the same, because with the Nipple Sparing you look at yourself and say ‘these are the same’.

Mastectomy
On Nov of 2012 I went for my year mammogram which I almost cancelled because I thought everything was fine. Well it wasn't they had found a lump I had to have a biopsy done and on December 5th is when I heard those word you have cancer. I was numb I didn't know what to feel. I had a double mastectomy and 24 lymphnoids removed followed by 8 rounds of chemo and 33 radiation treatment. I had reconstructive surgery done. I am very happy to say that I'm a 5 year stage 3 breast cancer survivor. I am so thankful for my family who got me through this and of course Upstate Cancer Center.
